The school year is wrapping up, kids are graduating, and families are ready for the summer break. If you're a retail caricature artist like many of us are, this is one of the busiest times of the year. So to commemorate this annual event, this week's Toony Bin challenge is Summer Vacation.

ReplyDeleteHi Michael and Kenny!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you both.I´ve just sent my entry for "summertime".
All these entries are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI like to comment specially one. Jimmy Pereira´s work, it is very real that a lot of children sadly stay at home during summer vacations into four walls watching stupid cartoons like SpongeBob(great design though),and playing videogames.Their brains and bodies are suffering a huge damage.
Dennis, what is that? A cousin of Jabba the Hut? and what is in the mouth of the little one? A shoe? Is the drawing based on a TV series of something like that?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, great work!
HAHA! love this weeks entries! Everyone did so great.
ReplyDeleteEduardo, I've been drawing a lot of monsters lately and when this topic came up, I thought "What if monsters went on vacation poorly disguised as people?". Well, They'd eat small children, hehe. I know... I'm not right.
There was a surprising array of interpretations here! Great stuff from all involved. The penguins are a riot, as is Ted's massive floatie man. And Kenny we ALL know that feeling. Keelan, it's always nice to see your cheesecake-ish stuff! And Jimmy, I know that's how I'd spend my summer in this heat.
ReplyDeleteDennis,On the contrary, you are very right!
ReplyDeleteFrom my perspective, THERE ARE real monsters(criminals)disguised as normal people everywhere! and yes,"eating" people. In my opinion, you are giving a humoristical aproach of a real fact.
Jimmy, It would be interesting to know why you drew a splendid sun outside the children´s room. Was it because the sun is too hot and they are better inside,or was it meaning that the kids are not taking advantage of a beautiful day?
ReplyDeleteMy intention was to make it look like a nice, pleasant day to be enjoyed. I guess it can be interpreted either way. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI interpreted Jimmy's cartoon to mean that the kids were inside playing video games and watching television, completely wasting the opportunity to be outside on a beautiful sunny day. Having two kids myself, I'm not unfamiliar with the scenario.
